Go: Come visit The Shepherd Hotel, a boutique hotel in Clemson, South Carolina (Go Tigers!) Crafted to celebrate the feeling of coming home, their sophisticated guest rooms offer curated amenities, custom furnishings, and original artwork. Outside of campus activities, explore all Clemson has to offer, from kayaking Lake Hartwell to the nearby Swamp Fox Distillery. Stay on-site and savor delicacies at Delish Sisters or head to Thomas Bar for an evening nightcap.
Beyond the beautiful doors lies purpose, too. Inspired by his daughter Jamison who has Down syndrome, Rick Hayduk, a seasoned hotel leader, had long aspired to operate a hotel and employ individuals with disabilities. In 2011, Clemson’s Head Football Coach, Dabo Swinney, introduced Rick to Rich Davies, a third-generation real estate developer and involved Clemson alum. The three have come together with the goal of positively impacting the lives of others through creating Shepherd Hotels in collaboration with ClemsonLIFE.
And Do Good: Shepherd Hotels aims to add thoughtfully designed boutique hotels in or around college campuses that offer Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSES) programs. Through a partnership with ClemsonLIFE, Shepherd Hotels empowers students with intellectual disabilities to follow their career goals and experience life on a college campus. Aspiring to open locations at additional collegiate locations, Shepherd Hotels has big plans to make big dreams come true.
