For the first time in maybe my life, I left Logan behind and took a quick 36-hour trip to a new area of Spain for the bros and I. This time, the trip was different than just sightseeing around Spain and there was purpose behind it: searching for secondary schools. Now that Landon is heading to 7th grade next year, our family wants to make sure we make the best selection for Landon and his academic future. Because Logan was busy working on a project, the bros and I decided to make this whirlwind trip without him to research the area/ visit a school in Fuengirola, Malaga.
Being our first time to the Malaga suburbs, we learned there’s so much to see! Malaga (the city – which we still need to spend time in!), Fuengirola, Mijas, Mijas Pueblo and so much more! There were so many small cities/towns we weren’t even going to get to see like Marbella and Estepona. It was a gorgeous area and it reminded me of the simple life we had our first month in Spain in Tenerife. I loved sitting on the beach in February, acai bowl in hand, and slowing down the pace from our city life here in Madrid.
Although we have more of that area to explore now, my favorite was Mijas Pueblo. What an adorable white-washed town with gorgeous houses: I could have spent days there! We also learned that most things there are closed on Sundays unlike Madrid. We also found an extremely rental car from Malagacar.com vs. the expensive options shown at the train station.
It was a 2.5-3 hour train direct from Madrid and it cost us under $120 for three people! The ride was easy and before we know it we went from cloudy to Madrid to sunny Malaga. We loved the area and are headed back soon to research school two there.
More Malaga to come!
