A Fall Weekend in Northern Ireland

#sponsored by Fairywater Rentals

What a great fall weekend we had in Northern Ireland! I quickly learned that Ireland and Northern Ireland are not the same. I learned a lot about the history between these two areas before visiting and they sure did end up seeming so different. We decided to spend all of our time in Northern Ireland vs. Ireland due to a collaboration with Fairywater Rentals.

Left Side of the Road Driving

This was Logan’s first time ever driving on the left side of the road and he was nervous going into it. It ended up being totally fine! (easy for me to say ;)), but he got into the swing of things quickly. Besides a few questionable turns and cars seeming like they were too close to it, we lived out my The Holiday dreams driving through the Irish countryside.

Chick-fil-a!!!!

While driving through Northern Ireland (which is a territory of the United Kingdom), we randomly let out loud screams when we saw Chick-fil-a!!! What are the chances of an American family seeing Chick-fil-a in Northern Ireland? It turns out there is not just 1 but 2 locations there, being the only locations currently in Europe. Of course we stopped for a spicy #4 and waffle fries. It tasted mostly the same but they didn’t have Polynesian sauce (boo).

Coastal Causeway Drive

We drove the Coastal Causeway and enjoyed the beautiful sites of the Atlantic Ocean along the rocky shores. We saw lots of pastures full of sheep and the all of the picturesque views that felt like a commercial on TV. We stopped and had lunch at Carrick-a-Rede Restaurant, a great place to stop for chowder and some soda bread. We then headed to the Carrick-a-Rede bridge and Dunseverick Falls, a gorgeous waterfall. We also enjoyed visiting Dunluce Castle and seeing the history of Ireland there.

A Day in Belfast

We spent a full day in Belfast, the closest city to us, and we loved it! We visited a local recommended church, Newtownbreda Baptist Church, which was precious and so welcoming. It was run by former Spain missionaries which was so fun for us! We then headed to Belfast Castle and walked through Cave Hill County Park. You have to end a day in Belfast with Sunday pot roast which is exactly what we did at Olderfleet Bar back in Larne, the sweetest town in Northern Ireland where Fairywater Rentals was located.

It was a great trip and we loved our stay. Highly recommend a visit, too! Cheers with a Guinness!
