Although Barnsley Resort has been in the directory for what seems like a while, I was completely, pleasantly whisked away to a Christmas Wonderland while visiting Barnsley Resort during the Christmas season. With numerous family-friendly activities to enjoy year-round, Barnsley Resort quickly became a family favorite.

The Cottage:

We thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations in the Red House Estate Cottage, a two-bedroom, quaint cottage with separate living quarters, featuring a second story just for the boys and a wood-burning fireplace in the master bedroom. It was so lovely to park our car right outside of the cottage and have the ease of access to our very own cottage.

In addition to the cottage offerings, guests can also enjoy The Inn at Barnsley Resort, a beautiful English-inspired inn that was just as welcoming and cozy.

Although traveling is our favorite hobby, our family will always be homebodies at heart, so it was such a wonderful feeling to feel so at home at Barnsley Resort.

Favorite Activities:

With two active boys, our favorite hotels and resorts are those offering complimentary activities that are family-friendly and get our boys to play outdoors. While Barnsley Resort does offer many warmer weather activities that we didn’t get to experience, a few of our favorite winter activities to experience in December were a visit to the barnyard animals at The Farm, hiking to the Overlook, playing on the 18-hole disc golf course, enjoying s’mores and playing corn hole and other outdoor games.

My favorite activity, besides scrolling around the cottages, latte in hand, was enjoying a facial at The Spa at Barnsley Resort. Their relaxation room was just what I needed to disconnect and get ready for the upcoming busy holiday season.

Favorite Christmastime Activities:

Strolling through the famous Manor House Ruins and Gardens is a must-see experience during Christmastime. The lights that began to shine at dusk are hard to describe in words and it is truly a magical Christmas experience; pictures do not do it justice.

Barnsley Resort‘s Woodlands Grill and Rice House are decked out with Christmas decor and blast fun Christmas music for all to hear. Our boys loved dancing along with the carols while dining at both locations.

There was also something special about walking around The Farm during Christmastime, especially seeing the barn decorated with a star. Meeting their resident donkey, Cody, and other barn animals gave off the sweetest Nativity vibes.

In the center of the cottages was a large, wonderfully-decorated live Christmas tree which makes for a perfect picture op for families. Also, the trees lining the cottages are decorated in white lights, providing a blissful, magical Christmas town to view. Christmas was in the air at Barnsley Resort!

Delicious Dining:

Woodlands Grill offered delicious meals and our family especially enjoyed their breakfasts. The boys adored their chocolate pancakes and had to order them two days in a row! Rice House, the more formal restaurant at Barnsley Resort, is an amazing dining experience. Logan and I loved the four-course dinner and enjoyed how special the meal felt, together as a family. Some of our favorites from Rice House were the amazing focaccia bread, the grilled escarole salad (this was one of the best dishes we’ve ever had while traveling!) and the walnut semifreddo for dessert – yum!

Our boys especially enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere at Beer Garden, the outdoor, casual offering by Barnsley Resort. While we ordered them barbecue pulled pork and hot dogs, Logan and I enjoyed toasting to a successful lunch as the boys happily played checkers, bocce ball and corn hole.

A Pet-Friendly Resort:

We loved bringing our rescue pup, Warrior, along for the trip. Warrior, our three-year old Labrador, fit right in with the other dogs that were staying at Barnsley Resort. The resort is extremely pet-friendly and even provides a dog bed, disposal bags and treats for all pet guests.

Barnsley Resort is a unique, family-friendly resort located in North Georgia and a wonderful place to spend a portion of your holidays. We made the sweetest Christmastime memories at Barnsley Resort and can’t wait to return to experience the other seasons there.

And Do Good: Bring your furry friend for a getaway at Barnsley Resort. A portion of each pet fee ($150 for standard rooms or $250 for multi-bedroom cottages) is donated to PAWS Atlanta, which provides love, nutrition, medical care and basic training to enrich the lives of orphaned animals until permanent, safe homes can be found.
