It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Now it really feels like Christmas after a weekend stay at good hotel, Chetola Resort. A visit to Chetola Resort, located in Blowing Rock, NC, has been on my list for over a year and I was so excited to bring the family along to experience the fun.
Chetola Resort is a laid-back, comfortable, family-friendly resort offering 1-4 bedroom condos or a room at the lodge. Hotels are in my blood, so we enjoyed the renovated lodge room with mountain decor offering a cozy lodge feel. In addition to being a great place to stay in the NC mountains, Chetola Resort also offers a great place to gather with friends and dine. Their on-site Timberlake’s Restaurant has a pub bar and dining room, both offering coziness donned in Christmas lights during the holiday season. We couldn’t get enough of the live music and the roaring fireplaces throughout the restaurant.
While Chetola Resort offers great features year-round, Christmas brings it own sparkle of joy. As you drive into the resort, close to 30,000 Christmas lights offer a spectacular entry experience. Our bros were filled with so much joy as we entered the resort, setting the stage for a wonderful Christmas stay. We experienced a bit of rain during our visit, but our boys still enjoyed looking out of our patio window searching for items in the Festival of Lights that were on their Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt. After a delicious dinner at Timberlake’s Restaurant, families can gather for s’mores and a bonfire, a wonderful way to get to know other families at the resort.
While Chetola Resort is known for all of the sporting events they offer in the spring and summer, from fishing to disc golf, we enjoyed a dip into the pool and hot tub on-site. The bros were quick to meet other friends who frequent Chetola Resort during the Christmas season and they had a blast playing ping pong and splashing together.
If you’re looking for a mountain resort offering great winter activities during the Christmas season, look no further than Chetola Resort.
When December hits, the James family heads to the slopes. One of the best parts of Chetola Resort is that Appalachian Ski Mountain, a local ski option, is only ten minutes from the resort. We happily packed our ski and snowboard gear and snuck in a half-day session of winter fun to beat out the rain.
We have visited multiple east coast ski locations and Appalachian Ski Mountain was a really good one. We loved the different levels of difficulty that the slopes offered and the site itself was laid out well and easy to navigate. The bros are getting stronger on their snowboards, riding the carpet up and down themselves and even giving Logan and I a chance to do a big run on the gondola without them.
Blowing Rock, you’re adorable. All decked out for Christmas with shoppes and restaurants lit up in Christmas lights, this ski town is hard not to fall in love with – fast. While the rain took away some of our exploring fun, we had a wonderful meal at Bistro Roca. This local, family-owned gem offered delicious wood-fired pizzas, unique drinks and appetizers and our bros’ favorite part: unique drinks for kids. Landon enjoyed the Muddy Sam (coke/sprite/lemonade) while Griffin tried his first-ever root beer. The kids’ menu was really well done at Bistro Roca and the food and atmosphere were five-star.
The best thing about leaving Chetola Resort is knowing that once you stay there you are always a part of the family. We enjoyed our weekend in the mountains and are so thankful for the opportunity to share the good that they have done and will continue to do. Chetola Resort is proud of their Statement of Faith, even offering a prayer bowl inviting guests to leave prayer requests in the lobby. We loved the etched scripture around the facility and could really feel love throughout all of the buildings. We’re so proud to have this adorable gem in our directory!
