The Fearrington House Inn

Logan and I set out on a short drive from our home base of Greenville, South Carolina for a weekend away without kids and discovered a dreamy gem: The Fearrington House Inn.

This Inn, located on a farm with an English countryside-vibe, is located just outside of Chapel Hill, North Carolina in the town of Pittsboro. From the drive in with views of a silo and farm animals like goats and their signature “Oreo cows”, Belted Galloway cows or “Belties”, we immediately fell in love with the Inn.

The Grand Suite

We have stayed at many Relais & Chateaux properties around the world and are always impressed by their decor and impressive buildings, yet this local gem did not disappoint compared to other international hotels. The Fearrington House Inn‘s Grand Suite is an inn room worth the splurge with a fireplace, living room space and oversized bathroom with jet tub providing all of the bells and whistles. We were so comfortable lounging in the living room, fireside and enjoying chocolates that we were late to dinner the first night!

The Food

Again, our expectations for delicious food options were high after dining at many Relais & Chateaux properties, a designation given to hotels with luxury inns and gourmet foods. Yet we were so impressed by the quality of the food both in the bar and in The Fearrington House Inn restaurant. Offering delicious and unique cocktails, the bar at the restaurant was a cozy place to connect with other travelers and try some of the restaurant’s lighter bites.

We had the opportunity to also shop around The Belted Goat, the on-site grocery, coffee shop and casual eatery located on the grounds of Fearrington Village. The Belted Goat made delicious coffees and offered a way for guests to grab to-go specialty foods like shortbread cookies and candies, to bring back home for relatives or to save for a keepsake. When we return in a warmer month, we’re looking forward to trying out their seasonally-open beer garden, Roost Beer Garden.

The highlight of our dining experience was the Prix Fixe Three-Course dinner that we enjoyed in the restaurant on our final evening at The Fearrington House Inn. This delectable menu offered mouth-watering courses from soups to beef tenderloin and fish and desserts with palate cleansers offered in-between each. Our waiter was knowledgable and super helpful and the experience overlooking the gorgeous grounds was definitely a memorable one.

The Farm

We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed pace of walking the grounds of Fearrington Village. Being farm animal owners ourselves, we appreciate the beauty in disconnecting with the busyness of life to recharge in a farm environment, so it was great to stroll the farm and to see their goats, chickens and cows. Their “Belties” were a for-sure highlight and we loved how so many items sold in the shoppes referenced their beloved cows.

The Shoppes

Fearrington Village offers so many unique and precious shoppes and we loved to support local while purchasing items that couldn’t be found elsewhere. Our favorite store was McIntyre’s Books, a quaint bookstore selling best-sellers and niche books with a wonderful kids’ book section. We were there during a live meet-and-greet with authors and we loved the energy and excitement over literacy while shopping in there. There are several other shoppes open for guests and visitors, offering both home decor items and women’s fashion selections. Don’t miss the adorable items for sale in the hotel lobby, too!

Go and Do Good:

The Fearrington House Inn wasn’t just a gorgeous hotel, it also is run by a team with great hearts. Fearrington is very involved with their local community. Through several food drives and fundraisers for CORA, a local North Carolina non-profit organization that serves local residents facing food insecurity, Fearrington is able to make a difference during the holiday seasons. They have also led book drives through McIntyre’s Books with Chatham County Literacy and worked with the local school system to bring authors to schools.

Don’t miss an opportunity to stay at the adorable The Fearrington House Inn with your spouse or family!
