Our First Visitors to Spain

Grammy and Pop just left after a great first visit to experience our new life in Spain! It was such a fun feeling, waiting for them at the Madrid airport to show them our new home. After them taking an overnight flight direct from Philadelphia (one of the reasons that we chose Madrid was due to direct access to family), I was able to greet them with excited open arms. The bros and Logan planned to greet them at the airport, but due to a delayed flight, they needed to head to school so maybe signs in Spanish instead 🙂 They arrived with a suitcase full of our favorite things that we can’t get in Spain easily, like sourdough pretzels, allergy medicines and more – it felt like Christmas morning again!

It was so fun showing them Valdebebas, our cute little modern town that we live in fifteen minutes from Centro Madrid. They loved our cozy apartment, albeit very small and enjoyed the cheerfulness and brightness of the space. It was so fun getting to show them our nearby restaurants that we love, taking the train into city center to explore and showing them the boys school in Tres Cantos. Downtown they enjoyed a visit to Plaza Mayor and the famous streets of Puerta del Sol. They also go to see the Royal Palace in all of its glory. One of the highlights of our trip was getting to take them on a day trip into nearby Segovia. My parents loved to see the beautiful architecture and this ime we all did a tour of the famous castle.

One of the sweetest parts of the visit was getting to celebrate Griffin’s 9th birthday together! Griffin chose to have a birthday party with his school friends at a local laser tag place. It was so much fun. How sweet it was to see our bros interacting with local children outside of school. It was also fun beating Pop (and Logan) 😉 at laser tag.

We are so grateful how my parents always support our (ok, my ;)) wild initiatives and are always looking for ways to bless us. It was incredible to show Spain to my parents for their first trip and we’re already planning their next trips to come
