#partner with Madrid Bravos; opinions my own
For the last two summers while living in Madrid, our family has loved going to the Madrid Bravos games here in Madrid. Part of the European League of Football, Madrid has their very own team named the Bravos and the games are so much fun! Each experience feels like a taste of home in America: the crowd cheering, the cheerleaders, the fan zone, the snacks: it’s truly an event that I encourage families visiting Madrid not to miss.
Located in Estadio de Vallehermoso and centrally connected by Metro, attending a Madrid Bravos game can also give local Spanish fans a feel of American culture. As an American family from the U.S. living here in Madrid, the Bravos game have given us that perfect mixture of two cultures that we love so much.
Some of my favorite differences from U.S. football games we’ve attended compared to Madrid Bravos games are:
1 – they sell sangria at the bar, not just beer and seltzer as they would in the U.S.
2 – the fans, especially as the season gets into the summer, use fans which is so, totally Spanish
3 – at the beginning of the games, they play Spain’s anthem song, and fans don’t remove their hats. It’s such a different feeling than the U.S.’s anthem.
Our boys, ages 12 and 10 this summer, specifically love the Fan Zone where they can play kid-friendly games, connect with our locals their age and get some free gear like foam hands to cheer on their Bravos. They also have a mascot, similar to games in the U.S., and this bull’s name is San Isidro. For a lot of the game, kids chant, “Isidro! Isidro!” to get his autograph and a photo.
Before and after the games, our boys have loved the photo ops of being able to meet the players and get signatures. The players are always so appreciative of their fans and it’s so cool seeing these football players from around the world get more chances to play a support that they love here in Spain.
We’re big fans of the Bravos games, and know you’ll love them, too. For the remainder of the 2025 season, you can get 10% off the admission of games in July by using this link.
