Our family returned to Mallorca for a quick weekend in August to experience the warm sea water and some of Spain’s most beautiful waters. We learned a lot of lessons on this trip, including to potentially avoid the Balearic Islands of Spain in August due to busyness and high season. But regardless, it was a nice beach trip full of memories.
Where to Stay:
We loved our stay at Villa Station in Ses Salines. I had found it through quick research and it looked lovely and it met the expectations. It was a redecorated villa home in Mallorca that accommodated multiple families, but the beds and air-conditioned rooms were comfortable and the decor was inviting. We also really adored the area of Ses Salines which was walkable to a local grocery store, bakeries and restaurants.
What Beaches to Visit:
Cala Galiota: this water was incredible for snorkeling and felt like bath water – we highly recommend a visit there.
Cala d’es Port: we also really like the waters at this location.
I would skip El Trenc: it is very touristy, people are trying to sell you things and they charge you 10 euros in high season for parking.
Where to Eat:
We absolutely loved the restaurants that were owned by the group that runs our Villa Station rental called Cassai Beach House and Cassai Ses Salines. Out of the two, we highly recommend the Cassai Beach House location and then spending the day on Cala Galiota.
Overall, my recommendation is to avoid visiting Mallorca in high season due to the wait times, travel traffic and just stress. We visited back in 2023 in November and while the waters were too cold for swimming, the views were equally as good and the visitor count was very low.
We absolutely love Mallorca and you need to experience it at least once in your lifetime – there are no waters anywhere like it!
