Besides small towns giving the most authentic feels of Spain, this family loves the beaches of Spain most! We started our journey living for one month in Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands of Spain and it spoiled us for all of the beaches we’d experience while living here. While everyone has a different opinion on the best beaches in Spain, this is solely my opinion and my journey: there are still so many beaches left for us to explore here! I’m bringing you along the journey as we rank our favorite beaches and beach towns in Spain.
You cannot go wrong with choosing an island in Spain. Here’s my guide to the islands we’ve visited in both the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands:
Tenerife, Canary Islands: This island is the most special to us because we spent one whole month there 🙂 This place is where we began our love affair of Spain and it will always be our favorite in our hearts. Catch-up on our favorite piscinas naturales, areas of the island and small fishing towns to be sure to try fresh seafood at:
Mallorca, Balearic Islands: This was one of our first trips after moving to Spain and we were so impressed by the beautiful topography and beaches here. It’s also really easy to fly to from Madrid.
Menorca, Balearic Islands: After Mallorca we visited the island of Menorca which we really loved just the same. Menorca is a bit more expensive to find flights for but is a worthwhile choice when wanting to visit beautiful waters in Spain.
Ibiza, Balearic Islands: We visited Ibiza during high-season (in August) and while it had beautiful beaches and great snorkeling, it was our least favorite island. I would recommend visiting the other islands before Ibiza, personally.
There are also great beach towns and cities on mainland Spain. These are some that we’ve had the opportunity to visit so far:
Dénia, Spain: This sweet little beach town is a must-visit if you’re near the Valencia area.
San Sebastián, Spain: We love this beach town so much! Great food and culture and close to the France border. There is such a unique culture represented in San Sebastián.
Jávea, Spain: This beach town is super busy and full in the summer, but could make a great beach town to visit in the off-season when visiting Valencia.
